The Voltaire Foundation has just published volume 15 in the 18-volume set of correspondence of the French Huguenot man of letters, Laurent Angliviel de La Beaumelle:
*Awarded Prix Edouard Bonnefous de l’Institut de France, 2013*
This volume includes two important unpublished memoirs written by La Beaumelle in defence of the Calas family and against their judges, in which he re-evaluates the role played by David de Beaudrigue. It also contains the dossier compiled by the Vatican in preparation for the blacklisting of his Mémoires de Maintenon, in which the censor denounces claims made by La Beaumelle which he believes are contrary to the doctrine of the Roman Church.
