CFP: ENGLISH THEATRE CULTURE 1660-1737 - ONLINE SYMPOSIUM #1, "FORMS, GENRES AND CONVENTIONS,&q
The Department of Theatre Studies and the Department of English and American Studies, Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic are pleased to announce a series of international symposia on English Theatre Culture 1660–1737. The overarching theme of the first symposium is Forms, Genres and Conventions.
The event offers a platform to explore various aspects of Restoration and early 18th-century English drama and theatre, such as theatre music and musical genres, popular and lesser dramatic genres of the period, adaptations and revivals of pre-Restoration plays, and translation of drama in the context of Restoration theatre. The symposium seeks to bring together scholars from various disciplines, including theatre studies, literary studies, history and musicology, and investigate the potential for their interdisciplinary cooperation.
Due to the current epidemic situation, the symposium will take form of online keynote lectures and seminars between 12 and 21 October 2020. The platform used will be MS TEAMS.
Registration deadline for participants is 31 August 2020. Non-participating audiences are welcome after registration. There is no registration fee.
