ASECS Walters Art Museum Excursion, April 1, 1:30–2:30pm

On this two-stop private tour for ASECS members at the Walters Art Museum, Joaneath Spicer, the James A. Murnaghan Curator of European Renaissance and Baroque Art, will talk about two subjects for which she is well known: first, the presence and representation of Africans in Europe, specifically the museum's newly acquired portrait of an African prince at the court of Louis XIV; and second, the Chamber of Wonders and its shifting character from the early 1600s to the 1700s.

The tour is open to attendees at the ASECS Annual Meeting. It will take place on April 1, from 1:30 to 2:30pmET. Attendance is limited to 30, first come, first served. Attendees are responsible for their own transportation to and from the Walters, which is located about 1.5 miles from the Annual Meeting site, the Hilton Baltimore Inner Harbor Hotel. REGISTER HERE
