CFP: ENGLISH THEATRE CULTURE 1660-1737ONLINE SYMPOSIUM #2 THEATRE, SOCIETY AND POLITICS 12-21 April
The Department of Theatre Studies and the Department of English and American Studies, Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic are pleased to announce the second international online symposium on English Theatre Culture 1660–1737. This time, the overarching theme of the event is Theatre, Society and Politics.
The symposium offers a platform to explore various aspects of Restoration and early 18th-century English drama and theatre, such as transnational theatre culture, sociology of the theatre, performing identities in the period, theatre in its political context(s) and methodologies of researching into early modern theatre culture. The symposium seeks to bring together scholars from various disciplines, including theatre studies, literary studies, social studies and history, and investigate the potential for their interdisciplinary cooperation.
Due to the current epidemic situation, the symposium will take the form of online keynote lectures and seminars between 12 and 21 April 2021. The platform used will be MS TEAMS.
