REGISTER for 2021 James L. Clifford Prize Winner Virtual Discussion, Dec. 10

Spencer J. Weinreich’s “Unaccountable Subjects: Contracting Legal and Medical Authority in the Newgate Smallpox Experiment (1721)”, which appeared in History Workshop Journal (Spring 2020), won the 2021 James L. Clifford for an article that presents an outstanding study of some aspect of eighteenth-century culture, interesting to any eighteenth-century specialist, regardless of discipline. Join us for a discussion of Weinreich's article. Dawn Odell, Associate Professor of Art History at Lewis & Clark College, who chaired last year’s Clifford Prize committee, will host the discussion. Members of ASECS and its regional and affiliate societies, as well as members of ISECS-affiliated societies, are welcome to attend. The article is available through ProjectMuse, at https://muse.jhu.edu/article/761777
