The George L. Graziadio Center for Italian Studies is pleased to invite you to a virtual book presentation of The Life and Legend of Catterina Vizzani: Sexual Identity, Science and Sensationalism in Eighteenth-Century Italy and England by Dr. Clorinda Donato (CSULB). In this new volume published by Oxford University Studies in the Enlightenment, Liverpool University Press, Dr. Donato analyzes the medical, societal, and narrative transcultural stakes in the life story of the transgendered Catterina Vizzani, and the right to live free from social stigma and the resulting physical danger suffered by transgender people both yesterday and today. For a more complete description of the volume, please visit the Liverpool University Press website.
